About our Robot... Initially our robot did not exist, as group 4 was separated into two groups (Jordyn, Hannah and Ashleigh + Emily, Sophie and Jacinta). In these groups we created two different robots. Neither of which were our final product, because once we all had our plans we came together to create one that we were to build. In the few earlier session's in term 1 we came up with our modified version of our final robot. From then we made some minor changes so our robot would be more stable and could move more easily. By the end of Term 1 we had our robot fully completed and everyone in group 4 was happy with the design. We are really excited to create
the dance in Term 2 with our own robot design instead of what we did last year by building a robot from the booklet.

Term 2- Creating Niki Minaj!!
LOG:
9/5/1200 Today we finished building the front legs so they were stable. We then connected cables with chords and we were then ready to program our robot. We started using all three wheels doing the basics- moving forward and backwards. We then started to attempt for the robot to turn. We tried all the combinations and tactics to try to get our awkward structure to TURN! They all turned out with the same result- it quarter turned, then looked like it was about to collapse and did'nt turn any further. :( We will try to get it working next week and try to test other moves! -Ashleigh
16/5/12 Today we listened to the music to figure out when we are starting (15 seconds) and possibly finishing at 1 minute 10seconds. We are now figuring out when the strong beats occur to change our moves each time. We have figured out where to start and our first moves. We have added a touch sensor. 1ST Move: sharp foward and back in a line. 2ND: 360 shimmi 3RD: sharp foward and back in a line (WE WILL ADD TO THE DANCE LATER) -Jordyn
29/5/12 Today we listened to our music again, but this time more intently. We have added more complex moves in the strong beets of our song; TURN ME ON By Niki Minaj!! So we have decided to call our robot Niki Minaj, we will be dressing our robot to look like Niki Minaj!! We fixed up the timing of our dance with the help of Ms Winfield. - Jordyn
We haven't had any more time to work on Niki but have been organising what we are bringing in for the costume and more potential moves!!
We have now decided on what our costume is going to look like. The hair is going to be purple and pink and it is going to be made out of crape paper. The top is going to be made out of silver cardbord with the word NIKI on it. In the hair there is also going to be a gold headband. -Hannah
26/06/12 : Today we need to work on finishing our dance so we can present it on Wednesday. Today we only need to complete 30 more seconds more of our dance. Then we are finished!!! We also put the costume on NIKI and she is looking fantastic. We are still working on getting the STRONG beats in our dance. We worked out where our starting point .We are starting 2 of Jordyns feet from the bottom left corner. -Hannah
Continued... During todays lesson we had Hannah on one computer getting our wiki organised and our costume perfect!! While on another computer Jordyn and myself (Ash) were downloading moves for our robot. Once Hannah was done we all came together to get all our moves just right. We have came across many restrictions and disallowences because of our design eg.. Snake & Shimmi etc. We have problem solved some other moves (that still look just as good) that will work with our design! Since we have got 3 wheels to support our robot, we can only use the front two and the back at separate times because they each move in different directions. We have all worked together to build a bridge and get over it !! TODAY WE FINALLY FINISHED OUR DANCE AND IT IS LOOKING FABULOUS!! We have decided to change the starting position to two of Jordyn's feet forward from the bottom left corner and one across- since it kept going out of the square. We have relooked and relooked our dance but we all really liked it! I really think we all came together like a puzzle and co operated brilliantly to come out with a dance like this with the time restrictions we had!!!!!!! :) :) - Ashleigh
We are so proud to be Group 4 and I do believe we worked extremely cooperativly and creativly as a team! We had alot difficulties with our design but
WELCOME TO GROUP 4 6M'S ROBOTICS PAGE!
